Move around the corporation (&2)
In the previous post we saw the benefits of moving around the corporation during your first days in the job.

Be careful not to be perceived as a “wanderer”. You are not casually walking around the corporation or killing time. You have a very specific and work-related objective (better understanding the corporation). The following are things you can do to avoid being perceived as a “wanderer”:
- Do not have your discussions at the coffee shop, water cooler or kitchenette.
- Carry a small notepad to take notes about the things you learn about other departments.
- Keep your discussions brief, up to a maximum of 5 minutes. If some topic pops-up that would warrant a more in-depth discussion, you should schedule a meeting (even if an informal one) with that person.
Moving around the corporation will help you have valuable nodes in your network.
Wandering around the corporation will shorten your job!
